A true story and a self improvement book all in one

August 25, 2022

Not only an inspiring account of unwavering courage in doing what is right, but courage to share her emotional story and personal toll this series of events impacted on her and her family’s life.

Additionally this book also features in its conclusion, the necessary and easy to follow tools and templates required to deal with such matters, as well as positive affirmations throughout.

Which helps to provide the reader to develop an empowering sense of integrity and build personal resilience.

This is a remarkable book of solutions to difficult problems.

I only read ‘true stories’ or ‘self improvement’ books.

So this tick’s both my boxes.

I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Don't blame the Rainmaker!

August 4, 2022

“JOBS FOR THE BOYS” was an expression I had not heard until I moved to Gladstone in 2014 and commenced employment with the Corporation. After I endured years of bullying from two ladies in my Team who were senior to me, certainly not in education or experience, but in age and their tenure with the Corporation, I began to understand why “JOBS FOR THE BOYS” was the Corporation’s unofficial motto.

When Jen was seconded to repair, reconstruct & rebuild the Supply Team in 2017, Jen immediately called out the bullying and implemented systems that removed the special treatments and secret relationships. Jen exposed the under the table arrangements and ended the backdoor dealings. Jen confiscated every tool the bullies had in their kits. For the years prior, my repeated requests to address the bullies behaviour were totally ignored by my male superintendent – I had no bargaining power, I wore a white collar, I had no political or union affiliation, and most importantly, I was not one of “THE BOYS”.

When simply doing what is right, fair & just in the workplace creates a Corporate Storm, we must not robotically blame the Rainmaker, we must instead challenge ourselves & ask why? Why do some people run for cover in the first place? Why do a select few batten down the hatches? And why do others not require an umbrella at all? The truth will astound you – people who have nothing to hide, hide nothing.

This book conjured up so many emotions for me! The strength and determination the author had…. when it would have been so easy to give up…. she displayed such courage and strength. Very heart warming to see her come out with her head held high. I’m a sucker for a happy ending. Well written and easy to read. Thanks for sharing your story Jennifer.
